You will see, on this cruise, quite a number of local people involved in our tourism activities, we try to benefit them as much as we can including using the labour, their food, their local guide services, etc…

Environment:

It’s our responsibility and also the villagers’ to take care of the environment in this beautiful Bay, we’ve been in partnership with the local authority, local people to clean part of the Bay, at the place they are living and where we are cruising through.

Your Contribution:

When you book with us, you contribute 2% of tour cost for this school for Cong Dam Village where Origin Travel Team helped Cong Dam Floating School children by giving books, bags and many learning things. You will be also getting detailed report from Origin Travel team at the end of every year.

We also firmly believe that tourism in Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay must be sustainable and benefit all stakeholders. As a responsible travel and tourism company:

* We operate with the utmost respect for the environment and local culture.

* In partnership with Ha Long Bay Management Board, we launched a project called “For a Green Ha Long Bay” in March 2008. The project is situated in  Cong Dam fishing village, a community intimately linked with Ha Long Bay.

On the day the campaign was launched, 50 plastic rubbish bins were given to families living in the village. More importantly, our project focuses on education and communication in hopes that all locals will soon realize the benefit of conservation.

We are actively supporting this  project over a  2 year trial period, then hope to expand it to other villages in Ha Long Bay.

* We have helped to establish  community-based tourism. Many local fishermen are now involved in and benefit from our tourism activities in Bai Tu Long.

* We use local food and produce whenever possible.

* We work hard to support the school at Cong Dam fishing village with exclusive sponsorship of our project started in 2010 called “Children and School in Cong Dam Village”. We are working hard to seek support to help build schools and create job and educational opportunities for the local people in the area.

* We actively encourage local people and business to collect litter and protect the appearance and ecology of Ha Long Bay.

Origin Vietnam Travel focuses on Responsible Tourism in Vietnam. Giving back to local communities has been a principle of Origin’s founder Ruby since his student days.

On the 25 December 2010 Ruby took the Nieto family on a tour of Cong Dam Floating village in Bai Tu Long Bay and gave 32 chilren books and pencils. This is one small gesture but it is significant to the children who now have supplies of books for almost a whole year..

Giving back to local communities has been a principle of Origin Travel’s founder Ruby since his days as a student at  Tourism University  in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Ruby took the Nieto family on a tour of Cong Dam Floating village in Bai Tu, Long Bay on the 25 December 2010  and distributed all notebooks bags pencils… to the students in the local school.

The students performed a wonderful play they wrote for us.

This is a small gesture but it is very significant to the 25 children who now have supplies of notebooks for almost a whole year and are committed to studying hard this year!

In addition to this donation, Origin Travel provides comprehensive scholarships for five children from poor families in the village who do not have the financial ability to attend school.  These scholarships provide funds for school supplies and appropriate clothing.

We are very proud of being able to contribute to the betterment of the children in the village and hope to make even larger contributions to Bai Tu and other villages in the area in the future.

We hope that our clients and guests are able to make a small donation to our program, or even create a small, lightweight “care” package with basic, readily available school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, erasers for our students.

We believe that children without education is like a car without gasoline.  Education is the key to the future for children and families in impoverished areas of our country and we are doing our part to ensure it is available to as many children as possible!
